Selecting an actor only shows TV OR Movies not both?

Hi,

If I click an actor (cast) that is in a TV Show I only see whatever TV Shows they have been in and vica versa if in Movies, is it by design or is there a way to click an actor to see what TV Shows AND Movies they have been in?

Thanks

It’s… I wouldn’t say by design. I REALLY hope that it’s an oversight. But as of now, if you view an actor’s profile by clicking on it, the only results will be for other shows/movies that are in the CURRENT library.

This sucks more for those - like me - that have 5 movie libraries and 4 TV shows libraries. I like to keep my animated and anime shows/movies separate from eachother. This results in highly fragmented lists.

To get around it for now, use the actual search itself. It will ask you which library to pick, but the libraries it offers are only ones in which there is a search result for.

Yeah, like you I keep separate libraries (I think most people keep at least Movies & TV separate)

I hope they can change this to search all libraries in the future! less typing I have to do on the tv the better!

Movies and TV HAVE to be separate, as Plex handles identification of each quite differently. However, even within movies, if you create multiple movie libraries, Plex treats each as separate as they do with TV shows and movies.

It’s unfortunate, but there is no combined cross-library result when you click on an actor’s portrait.

Edit: …yet. I hope they fix it, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. They seem to be working on updating the search results GUI. But I am not an employee, it could come out tomorrow for all I know.
