Love the idea. I can which friends are currently streaming something from my library - it would be nice to be able to click on it (the thumb of what they are streaming) and send them a message that they see on their screen. Handy for a number of reasons. Why canāt we do this?

From the āNow playingā tab you have the option to add a message when you stop someoneās playback, so messaging is obviously possible. I find it strange that they havenāt expanded this feature to MOTDs etc.

Or like pinning a notification to the homepage of the server. Something like this would be great to announce a server restart or something like this,

I get the same emails over and over related to any feature in the hopper.

If I didnāt have so many users with play history to keep, I would switch to
Emby
Lifetime member here. Just a simple option to say āMaintenance mode will occur on X date between Y and Z timesā would be a huge interim step in communicating with friends.

I would like to add my vote for this feature. It would make it a lot easier to perform maintenance/reboots/etc if I could just let my friends/family know it was going to happen. Please?
Itās been 6 yearsā¦ I donāt imagine this will move forward, but would love to be able to notify the users of new shows added etc instead of having to manually send group message advising a movie/tv show has been added.
I like all the useful helpful messages everyone has come up with, I would like to just send custom message to specific users while they watch a movie. It would be fun to spook them or give them a hard time. āHey that movies rated R, are you old enough to watch this?!ā lol just stupid stuff like that.

i have around 12 friends, who can watch movies, images etc from my server. it would be great to push a message to everyone, where i can introduce some new stuff or just say āhiā to new users.
would be useful to inform about downtimes, new releases, specials etcā¦!
