I would love this feature. And since it’s been 6 years since it was addressed it should be ready ā€œany day nowā€!

A popup message that could be shown before every movie, or just at logon, would be great.

I love this idea, In the very least add the ability to post a ā€œwelcome messageā€. I would like to be able to say: ā€œThe server will go down for maintenance on 1/1/2020ā€ or ā€œIf there are errors in the listings please email me @ā€ or " Check out our new videos" etc.

I’m new to Plex and I AM a premium customer. I don’t know if this is possible already. If it is please tell me how

It’s not. We are still waiting for such a feature. What I do sometimes is create a library and call it [Maintenance on xx/xx/xxxx] and share with all family and friends. This is not idea but I don’t want to have to email dozens of people to let them know.

We are all flogging a dead horse here…
No??

Oh yeah…

This would be awesome! I have 15 friends that stream from my server and 6 in house clients. It would be nice to put out a note and say ā€œat xx:xx time, I will be rebooting the Plex server for serviceā€ and so on.

I hope it isn’t bad form to plug a third-party solution for this that already exists (mods, feel free to delete this post if it is), but my Android companion app, nuVue, just added this functionality about a month ago. In addition to new media notifications, which is what it was originally created for, you can send messages to both users that you share you libraries with and server owners that share their libraries with you. If they also use nuVue, the message will be delivered in-app. If they don’t, it will be sent via email to the address used to register their Plex account. You can check out the app here: http://nuvueapp.com, and read more about the new shared library features here: http://nuvueapp.com/blog/wait-no-more/. I’m all for this being implemented in Plex-proper. But in the meantime, see a need, fill a need.

It’s been nearly two years since I plugged my companion app’s implementation of this feature, so I think it’s safe to do it again without feeling like I’m taking advantage of this thread. If Plex won’t add this, then consider supporting your friendly neighborhood indie app developer to get the messaging you crave. (Yes, it’s still Android-only. Sorry iOS users.)

[end shameless promotion]

And another year has gone by without this being implemented in Plex-proper. Time for me to drop another mention that Android users have an option to get this and more with nuVue.

Then again, a waist less app to be installed to consume even more space on a device, let’s stop for a moment and ask why can’t we just text our fellow Plex Mobile phones then instead of asking plex over 7 yrs to implement this already.

Sry, didn’t want to come out rude if I was but com’n. Screw both android n iOS n think people. Just a txt of a phone.

Ps. Or Skype group for Plex users, I’ve been in 5 way group conversations all the time.

Psps, just stating my opinion on the matter and nothing else.

i can’t even. Going searching for the unsubscribe button, this poor thread is just thrashing on the floor…

+1 for me too… it would be nice a on screen message to let user know of either an emergency maintenance is required… like either a reboot to the server, or due to router issues like mentioned earlier… This would be really a nice feature.

I would also like to see something like this. Should be a mechanism to send some sort of on-screen notification.

+1

Would love to let my users know that I have added a requests channel.

Ok, throwing my hope on this. I don’t have a lot of people accessing, but do have 3 kids who access it from their places and my brother does too. I would love to be able to send all users a maintenance message that I’m going to work on the server and/or reboot it. The other thing is one of the biggest things I miss about Kodi/OpenElec is that I had it so it would pop up a message when something is fetched or downloaded.

best idea!!

Release this feature please!

How has this still not been implemented yet? Insane.

@Wazza85
I agree with you. This post was started in 2012, It has a WHOPPING 1396 likes and its 19 pages long and it has not been added as of Feb 2018? WOW. Is this a case that Apple says we don’t need it so we don’t get it no matter how many want it??

This would be great for servers with users accessing outside the local network. Fantastic idea.
