It would be great as a PlexPass user to unlock a feature to send messages to the viewers.
Information on planned maintenance (running every 20min or so)
Restart information (one time message)
and so on.
OMG I would love this feature. Never fails, right as I need to reboot the server for an update or add more storage, a family member connects and starts to stream and I have to either cut them off or call them and tell them I’m taking it down. Would be wonderful to be able to post a message they see when they open the app or web page saying it will be down for maintenance or other information at a set time. Will save me some hate texts! HAHA
This is great. The way the Plex Team announced the Nvidia Shield Integration the same way updates are announced at the top of the screen could be ideal and simple.

I’d like to see a ‘maintenance mode’ created (either through a CLI command or button in the WebUI, whereby when PMS is entered into it, it allows existing streams to complete, but does not allow new streams (allowing clients to gracefully ‘drain’). An accompanying message which can be set when entering maintenance mode would also be useful.
I accomplish this by removing the port mapping to my server. Existing users get to finish their movie and new users see the server as being down.
+1 Awesome idea. Had the same thought, did a little research and found this thread which had been around for years… Might be time for the Plex team to see if they can do it?
I was going to make a new post for this, but I’m glad I used the search function. This request has been around for quite some time now so I’m not too optimistic. It can’t really be that hard to implement so IDK why it hasn’t been done, people obviously want this feature!
