Seperate EPS/Singles like when on a Tidal Source

I am not sure if this is better filed as a Plex Server question because I expect to be filling this metadata from the server.

However I’ve noticed that Tidal Sourced Artists have EPs and Singles separated from albums in Plexamp. Example being Tash Sultana.

I find the tracks using Tidal integration, and on the Artist page EPs and Singles are separated. I usually then go to qobuz, purchase and upload her new tracks to my Plex server. On my Plex server every track is listed as an album.

This presents some questions:

  1. Would it be possible on Plexamp to listen to a specific tag to denote this?
  2. Or on the Plex Server add an option to mark an album as an EP or Single?
  3. Is this a limitation of sourcing metadata from Last.fm?
  4. Could a Metadata source for Tidal be added? I would much prefer to just source match my library against Tidal’s metadata.

Hi @mikeymop,

I believe this is something the devs are looking at/working towards. You’re right in that it’s a feature that the server must surface though; Plexamp just displays what it’s given.

Regarding your 4 questions:

  1. Plexamp doesn’t read your tags, the server does, so this isn’t really something that will help here.
  2. If/when this feature is ready, I’m not sure about being able to customise it yourself, however the data will most likely come from MusicBrainz, and can always be edited there if you need to.
  3. Plex Music metadata comes from a variety of sources, the primary being MusicBrainz, not last.fm unless you’re using the legacy last.fm agent, in which case you’re unlikely to see this feature at all if/when it’s ready, and I must encourage you to upgrade to the new and greatly improved music agent :slight_smile:
  4. I can’t speak for the devs, but I don’t think this is something that’s likely to happen, sorry. The new metadata agent brings in the best metadata from a variety of sources, including MusicBrainz, Tivo/AllMusic, Last.fm and more, with a lot of secret sauce on top.

Also, do you know if lyrics also come from Musicbrainz at all?
I have a few songs that pulled in the wrong lyrics, or have ‘show lyrics’ but they are blank.

I would like to transcribe and upload my own lyrics such that they appear in Plexamp. And if I can do it in a manner that benefits all of Plex I would prefer to do it that way.

That’s not the correct setting, no. The agent settings are at the Library level. See below:

As for lyrics, they’re provided by Lyricfind. Unfortunately they can’t be modified, however you can add your own local lyrics like so:
