Well, internal player and external player subtitle support is now implemented, but I have some UI clean up and more testing to do before I put out a 1.1.0-M2 build next week. So it is coming.
Nice, nice, nice!!!!! U are the Master!!!!
One more question... I can setup the subtitle size and position on internal player?
Currently that isn't configurable. It will be centered at the bottom of the screen, using the LARGE style from android to make sure it is legible from across the room.
Playback Subtitles if they are available on both internal and external players. Only SRT subtitles are suported. See Plex Nine Subtitles for naming format information.
New video tutorial help option from the main menu. Press the menu button on your remote to access the tutorial.
Download manager service has been replaced with a version that can support files larger than 2GB.
Music and Photo menu items shouldn't display any longer. These will be added back once support is added for these items.
Library Names that can not be completely displayed will now scroll Marquee style once selected.
This should show up in the Google Play store within the next week or two, barring any major bugs people find.
i have all my movies with srt file with the same name of video file.
For example: video.mkv and video.srt. But on 50% or more of the movies i dont have the subtitle select option.
Mx player as external player shows subtitles perfectly when i have the option to select subtitle on Serenity. But internal player never show subtitles.
U can setup automatic subs selection when srt file are present? My wife regards you
Whel the big problem is the 1. No subtitle detection for tons of movies.
Please Davis fix it. I really want to buy this app.
Sometimes it can take Plex up to 20 seconds to return the subtitle info. Not much I can do about it using the official api. If this occurs the Plex developers need the logs so they can investigate on the server side.
For the ones that aren't showing wait about 20 seconds and you should eventually get the subtitle selection box.
There is a FAQ for subitles that should answer some questions:
For the second problem can you tell me the video the source where you retrieved the subtitle from. I haven’t run into a situation where the internal player doesn’t play. Remember only srt format is supported.
I need more information in order to try and debug and replicate the issue. I'm just using the offical API that plex has documented. So where are you downloading the subtitles from? What tv show movie is it happening with? With out some more details about your setup I can't even start to debug the problem.
It might be best to just open up an issue on the GitHub tracking site, so don't take over this thread trying to figure things out. Please open an issue at the following link:
I just (bought and) tried out serenity: very nice! (Subtitles!!!) One thing I couldn't find was a way to display (and scroll through) a compact list of movies or tv shows: the one-at-a-time sliding window is very nice, visually, but it doesn't scale very well to large libraries: one of my biggest peeves with the official (now deprecated) GTV client is that it only shows a handful (6? 8?) at a time: I was hoping serenity would address that use case out of the box (eg. support a big grid of thumbnails and/or a scrolling list) so that I can conveniently browse my entire library without having to invoke the search function. Any chance this might be coming in a near-term update? :)
Version 1.1.0 will allow skipping through the list using the remotes skip forward and skip back buttons. Or using F and R keys on the keyboard. There is a YouTube tutorial you can access on the main menu and the projects day has a list of short cut keys for 1.1.0.
The official 1.1.0 should be in play store by the middle of the week.
