Server fails to restart due to plexmediaserver.pid

Hi, I have Plex installed on a Netgear ReadyNas 204 programmed to turn itself off every night and come back on in the morning.
Unfortunately this often leaves plexmediaserver.pid open and when the NAS reboots it won’t start Plex.
The only method I am aware of is to manually delete the file and restart the NAS, a time consuming process.
Is there another way to solve the issue once and for all (apart from keeping tha NAS on 24/7)?
