Hi all, not really sure where to start but hoping for some help.
I recently had new EE Full Fibre broadband installed on Monday, having previously been with Virgin Media for about 6 years. (we also have an eero mesh network attached to the router, which previously work fine with VM)
I’ve had my Plex server set up on a Synology NAS since last February and everything has been fine, however since the new broadband installation it seems like everything has fallen apart.
I can’t access my server remotely anymore, and today it seems like the server has forgotten me and I can’t seem to access any admin options with my profile (I’m the server owner). It doesn’t look like I’ve lost token access, and other users are still able to watch the media but I don’t have anything.
Not sure what to do, does anybody have any ideas?
NAS model?
DSM version?
Plex Media Server version?
You’ve a new ISP and new router. Start with the basics on the Synology.
-
Verify the IP address, network mask, and default gateway are correctly configured. Some ISPs use different default network assignments.
Synology Control Panel → Network: General and Network Interface tabs
-
Configure the NAS to use a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google).
Synology Control Panel → Network: General
-
Synchronize the NAS with a public NTP server.
Synology Control Panel → Regional Options → Time
Choose Synchronize with NTP server
Pick a server from the drop down list
Update.
You should see Status = Normal.
Once that is complete, see if local access works.
-
Stop Plex Media Server and wait 20 seconds.
-
Start Plex Media Server. Wait 1 - 2 minutes for it to fully start.
-
Try to login to the server.
From a system on the same subnet, point a browser at the IP address of the NAS.
For example, if the IP address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web (you may need to use https).
See if you can login, access server settings, etc.
-
If you can access server settings, make sure the server is claimed, then try using a local client - TV, phone on wi-fi, etc.
