Server Not Powerful Enough - What's the deal? Please help

I made a post a few weeks ago, back on version 0.9.15.5 I believe… and I didn’t get any results and I kind of got fed up with it and just stopped using plex until today. Sorry for not finishing up over there, but I was just frustrated, I needed to step away from all this.

Since then, I upgraded my PC (not due to this problem) and it is even more “Powerful” today, and I get this error while attempting to watch media ON the PC that the server & media is hosted on! (Haven’t tried remotely watching anything yet with plex)

–PS3 Media Server works as intended
–Universal Media Server works as intended
–WD Live works as intended
–SteamLink streams my desktop perfectly, as intended

–Plex says “Not powerful enough”
–Plex won’t play more than a few seconds of media on the Host machine before I get that message
–Plex is used mostly on my PS3 and thru my Chromecast from my Android phone.
–I’ve tried with my Firewalls completely off, Completely on, and fooled around with some port forwarding. (But everything else works??)

–Home network is Gigabit hard wired using CAT 6, the only wireless devices I have are my phones and tablets. (and 2 chromecasts)

What logs would you folks like to see from me? What can I do to help you help me?

A few folks asked in the other old thread about my PC Specs and here they are:

Intel Core i5-6600K Processor
16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 DDR4-3000MHz RAM
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB Boost+ GPU

Samsung 7200RPM HDD 1TB
Toshiba 7200RPM HDD 5TB
Toshiba 7200RPM HDD 1TB

All drives have at least 25% Available

Thank you Thank you Thank you all for reading
I appreciate the time you spend reading my rhetoric and/or attempting to help me

Here are some logs from just now.
I have the latest 0.9.16.0 version on Windows 10 x64 Professional

Tried a few moves and TV shows, everything started ok, played for 5-10 seconds and locked up with “Server not powerful enough”

After about another 30 seconds they began to play. Then I tried to jump to the middle of the show, or back to the beginning, and it would freeze completely.

Never used to do this before. Especially ON the machine that is hosting the files?? Shouldn’t it just play normally like VLC and Windows Media Player? I don’t understand why Plex hangs up… it never used to !

Mar 10, 2016 17:10:12:329 [9868] DEBUG - Starting plug-in C:\Users\Milano\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebManager.bundle.
These files should have been deleted when you installed PMS. Plex’s included bundles (like these 2) should not be in this folder any more. These won’t affect the player but you may have others that are. Compare to the bundles in this folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-23623fb. Any bundles in this folder should not be in the folder above. Delete any repeats then restart PMS.

If the above doesn’t help, can you enable logging of the web player, reproduce the problem, and then save the log info into a text file and upload it here. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201611836-Plex-Web-App-Logs

Also, I see you are using FireFox. Have you tried another browser to see if the same issues happen?

Hello and thank you for the suggestions.

I removed those folders, nothing else in there.

I tried a few things on Firefox and Chrome. Attached are the log files from the Web player.

In Chrome, I simply found a movie, clicked play. They both played.

First one picked up where I attempted to fast forward to (in Firefox just prior). Played fine 8 seconds, then server not powerful enough and froze.

Second movie loaded, played 15 seconds and froze, saying again that my server was not powerful enough to play smoothly.

I’m not seeing any errors in your log regarding playback. If you don’t mind doing one more test. Can you do the same thing just using FireFox, but this time set the logging level to verbose? Also set the server log level to verbose, and upload both the server and web logs. Hopefully this will reveal the problem.

I have the exact same issue. Was working fine for almost a year and then it stopped.

Still looking for a solution.

Here is the Firefox and Server Verbose logs
I tried playing 3 videos, all stopped before 20 seconds of play and said Server not powerful enough.

Update: I did a complete uninstall including registry entries and folders. I’m still having the exact same problem. ;(

Also, my movie poster art does not seem to be downloading. I’m only getting some, when before I had everything + metadata.

Someone suggested Emby (today). I tried it, and everything works fine on there. All my cover-art downloaded fine. Everything streams seamless. However, I prefer Plex and wish it would work correctly!

I solved my issue that was giving me the same error with a little guidance from OttoKerner. Yours may be something similar.

It turned out that my Anti-Virus/Firewall, Zone Alarm Internet Security, was causing the issue. I think it has to do with the version of Microsoft C+ Runtime Zone Alarm uses conflicting with the version used by Plex Media Server. I found that if I exited Zone Alarm completely, then reinstalled Plex Media Server everything worked fine. Zone Alarm had to actually be shut down. Snoozing the firewall or turning off the features did not work. I found it easiest just to uninstall it because it needs to be down after you finish the install and reboot. ie… it still needs to be down after the reboot so when the server setup runs after reboot it completes successfully.

What are you using for your anti-virus and firewall? What other software is running? (hint… you can run “tasklist > tasklist.txt” from a command prompt to get the list of processes and services.)

Check my thread and you’ll see almost the same posts.
