Server pegs to 100% CPU and randomly stops running

I did the steps exactly as you stated and performed them again just to be sure.

Here is a screenshot of the CPU usage randomly jumping up to 12.5%. The first bump is from me clicking on “Download Database” from the troubleshoot menu. When I click it again; crash.

Enjoy your holiday, thanks for responding as much as you have.

Just heading out now.

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Make a tar.gz of the logs and attach here please when you can.

I’ll look when back

Logs.tar.gz (1.6 MB)

  1. Please identify device at 192.168.1.12 , disconnect it, take it out back, and shoot it !
It’s spitting all over your LAN, and not obeying XML protocol. If you can turn off it advertising itself as a gateway, you’ll be much better off AND your logs will contain far less spam.

(Yes, I see it’s a player device … LOLOLOL)

  1. PMS is seeing an Nvidia GPU but – nothing is responding.
    – What do you have installed?
    – Does it have video transcode capability ?
    – Are Nvidia drivers installed? (I have 510.85 installed which is more than enough for AV1 decoding should you have a capable GPU card)

The .12 IP address is a FireStick (I have 4 of them on the network). I did some searching and couldn’t locate how to turn them off as a gateway so I’ll keep looking. I have an older 1080ti installed as the GPU and it does have transcoding capability from the table I found on the internet. I just changed the driver on the auto-updater and it looks like it’s using 515? However, I ran another log and I believe it’s still showing up.

The 1080ti should be fine. We use a GT-1050ti in our lab for all but AV1 testing.

Do you have the following modules installed ?
(Please understand , this is from my headless machine running Ubuntu server so Xorg isn’t used.)

You’re interested in the libnvidia modules for PMS and the nvidia-kernel for the the backend interface from card → OS.

[chuck@lizum Gemini Man (2019).2033]$

This is what mine says.

First thing you’ll want to do is remove the ‘i386’ (32 bit) elements from the system unless you have other apps which need them. PMS is 64 bit only for HW transcoding.

You’re missing nvidia-compute-utils, nvidia-dkms, nvidia-driver (important)

Do you get output with
