Server recommendation for small computer

Hi guys
I have the following question.
I should move to an apartment that not have much space, so I need to install a new server for Plex.
I wanna know if anyone can provide feedback about small computers that can do the task (of course I should need to connect some external HDD) but I like to have a small computer.
I think on two options

  1. Mac mini (no the last models here in Argentina, are to expensive) so need to be and old model (like to know a old model that work well)
  2. a mini PC (there is some really small computers that can run windows 10)

Hope you can help me
Best Regards

Most computers should be capable of running Plex. Getting into specific models would require more knowledge about what you plan to do with the server.

  1. Will you have lots of users or just a couple?
  2. How many drives you do you think you’ll be attaching to it?
  3. Do you care whether the data is backed up in case one hard drive fails?
  4. Do you expect the clients to require transcoding or will you store media in a format that your devices can consume natively?

Hi desidero84

  1. most of my current movies are H264 or H265
  2. no I don´t need
  3. in my current server the storage is about 20TB, in my new system, should be less (2 o 3 HDD)
  4. 1 or 2 external user

It sounds like you can get by with pretty much anything then. I don’t know what’s available at a reasonable price in Argentina, but if you have links to a few things you’re considering, it should be easy enough to say whether they’d work out.

Something like this

Its a mac mini with 8GB of RAM, here there is a lot of mac mini in the used market but all with 4GB of RAM (and can´t be upgraded )

37.000 $ is about 840U$S
