This just started about 2 weeks ago for me when I upgraded to the latest and greatest version. It has some strange symptoms…
The good news:
- The server is running and I can stream shows without a problem. This is true through apps, TV apps, or a browser.
- I can access the default player settings page at /settings and change them without issue.
- I can access the users list (and settings) at /settings/user without a problem. NOTE: I can change user permissions successfully as well from this screen so some types of settings are active.
- I can access the device list at /settings/device without a problem.
But I cannot access the system settings at /settings/server (unless I reboot, see below).
The bad news:
- I can access /settings/server only when it first starts up. I do not know how long it works before it dies, but it works when the server first starts up. It is usually the next day when I try to look at the settings that it gives me the “Server settings are unavailable.” error message.
- It does NOT scan libraries and detect movies or TV shows when I add them to my library. This is usually how I know it crashed.
- If I restart the server manually (I am running on a WD4100 NAS) it starts back up and the /settings/server is running again. It also scans and finds any media that was missing when i does a library scan after restart.
I am hoping that once again my debugging and isolating what works and does not work will help someone troubleshoot this problem. Can anyone help guide me so that I dont have to keep manually restarting the service every time?
I can gladly post some log files, but this time i really do not know which logs to check and what exactly to look for. Nothing grabbed my immediate attention as obvious.
