Server Statistics

Would love to see some form of Plex Media Server statistics. Either built directly into the plex/web and other clients as a extra page(s). Or via another outside run app/script that parses the main server log files. Including things like shared user stats, time of day stats, amount of bandwidth(file size totals) in X timeframes, and so on. For example the ability to take a quick look and see that Bob is streaming way more then Dave or Joe who have shared access to my server. Or look and see that ‘This boring show’ is streamed more often then eps from ‘this even more boring show’.

Great idea.....Plex devs....stop what you are doing, and do this insted....(Unless working on one of my suggestions)  :D

This feature would work well alongside the"Now Playing" feature that (while a good start) doesn't go nearly far enough. A full user stats page would be so much more useful and would help admin your users better if you could see all relevant information on what's being watched, who's watching it and how often it gets watched etc along with bandwidth used etc and totals for daily/weekly/monthly etc to track server usage over time.

I used to find this feature really useful when I used Subsonic and was disappointed when I found out Plex didn't have this feature available when i switched over.

^^bump. I would also like to see: All movie total length: How long can I stay at home without getting bored by watching one film twice :D - Total numbers of: FullHD, 720p etc movies.... counter how many times watched.... etc. a lot of fun..

search the forums for plexWatch

As Trudge already mentioned, Plex Watch & it's companion front-end, Plex Watch/Web, are what I use to view some server statistics. Easy to setup, and the best thing I've come across so far for PMS reporting.

Have fun!

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but what happened to plexWatch?

It’s still around. And then there’s PlexPy, by a different author. It runs via python instead of perl.

DrZoidBerg is doing good work with it, actually. Look in the General section under 3rd party apps.

He once had to have PlexWatch, but I think the reliance for that is now gone. It’s pretty fast and doesn’t require a web server.

bumping this aswell, I feel it’s the biggest thing now missing on an otherwise awesome plex package, I have users that can stream via internet or in home, seeing how much my plex server uses and who watches what and when would be very handy

I know plexwatch has been mentioned a couple of times but the hassle (especially on a dedicated plex nas for example) is not really worth the trouble, especially knowing the plex team, their integration would be far better

just my 2 cents, hopefully it’s on the roadmap

Installed PlexPy and it works great. I also like the chartsporn and notification options. An official stats page would be better for security imo.

YES I Agree we need something more

For admins sake, I would like to know how my server is doing, at a glance. an indication if things are not working within normal parameters. to be able to set these parameters.
a button indicator at the “home of the web gui for admin” that shows load warning “green for healthy server”, “yellow for caution”, and “red for server unhealthy server”
and a way to set the indicator.

server settings:
server:
server statistics:
disabled by default
ram load: intervals - every 300 seconds - >80% >50% >5%
cpu load: intervals - every 300 seconds - >80% >50% >5%
network history - every 300 seconds - >90 >70% >1%
set color for healthy server: green
set color for caution - yellow
set color for unhealthy server - red
enable email for when unhealthy server - (on each client activity set) - (interval:1hr)
(enabling or disabling this feature would be nice. along with some parameters)
set logging server statistics - enabled

it would be nice to be able to use the web gui to show an indication of server health. and a way to modify the indicator. having it disable by default so as to not complicate an already sophisticated system.
much like looking in the task manager when sitting at your desk in windows to see the health of your computer.
and finally a email alert that lets you know your server is unhealthy.

redundant i know. but we already are needing to know more then the average user. it would be nice to simplify at a glance if there is something not right. knowing if something is getting out of hand before everyone using plex feels it, when using plex. would be beneficial. thank you.

Sever Statistics / true server stats i.e. client buffering / bandwidth usage. Ip address tracking

Until they add it to the PMS itself, there’s nothing currently better than PlexPy for server statistics, in my opinion. Very easy to install, and even easier to use. It gets two thumbs up from me.
