What I’m currently doing
- WD12TB usb hdd formatted to btrfs connected to Raspberry Pi 4, running plex media server and a samba server: https://gist.github.com/balupton/8b6e9ce0738b35ff2bc764c21dea7a51
What I’d like to do:
- Disconnect the usb hard drive from my Raspberry Pi 4, but have the raspi still run a Plex Media Server
- Connect the usb hard drive to my macbook, format it as apfs, and expose it via a plex media server installation on the macbook
- This is what requires the feature request: Create a plex smart playlist on the macbook of my unplayed items limited to 100GB of content, then have the raspi plex media server sync that playlist to its local filesystem
That way my macbook can use the usb hard drive, I get Arq cloud backups of the content (a macos backup app) as well as Time Machine APFS backups, and all my unwatched items are synced to my raspi when my macboom is available, such that when my macbook is not available the unwatched items are still accessible via the raspi
