Login to the NAS via SSH and navigate to the directory holding the database files.
Enter ls -la and copy the output to the thread.
Enter ls -la .. and copy the output to the thread.
It will show file ownership, permissions, etc. of the directory and files (like example earlier in thread from my Synology NAS). Can then determine if anything needs to be modified.
[Myrddid@TNAS-107B Databases]# ls -la …

So here’s the deal. If root existed this would be easy. It doesn’t, and I don’t know which userid has enough privileges to execute the chown (change owner) command.
Try some variations.
Change to the directory holding the files, then try these variations:

Too bad, it fails enabling, it doesn’t even open…
I’m going to try to repair a db backup by Plex which at least should not fail enabling… it has 3 months, but it’s better than nothing.
Well, the problem seems to be in the repair process: it generates an empty bloob.db file with 0B… what could be wrong?
Plus, Windows Power Shell tells me that:
NOTE: This script is being replaced with the PowerShell script DBRepair-Windows.ps1,
which aims to better emulate DBRepair.sh (more options, interative mode, etc).
Consider moving over to the new script.
Well, I deleted Plex and start over, it’s been a mess but now it works, thanks to @FordGuy61 for precious help.
Now I’ve got an issue: I can’t see plots in TV Shows section… Tried to work with agents but no changes… Any suggention?
RIP my notifications. I never got any badges and missed that EPIC help from @FordGuy61
Look at that thread. Incredible.
So glad you got it working in the end and learned a lot.
As far as that goes, two things: First, the Plex website Articles are the user’s manual in dispersed form. I refer to them a lot for everything from naming my files to media Agents. Secondly to give you a foundation, nowadays nearly everybody uses the modern, default:
Scanner: Plex TV Series Agent: Plex Series Episode Ordering: The Movie Database
Once you have those changed, and “Saved” you would Manage Library →
Scan Library Files
Refresh All Metadata
That refresh takes a while depending on your internet speed and library size. For 1000 shows it might be 10 - 30min. Occasionally a show will have terribly incomplete or missing episode data which you will often have to look at manually to see if it exists on the TMDB website. When it’s missing you then check the TVDB website which is more complete. For a show that needs to use TVDB, I Edit the show’s link → Advanced to use
Episode Ordering: TheTVDB (Aired)
Sometimes I have to rename my media files to match whichever ordering I’ve chosen, because one site might break up, for example, Doctor Who in three series, while the other clumps everything into one show.
Well, I learned very much indeed and yes, help from @FordGuy61 has been really EPIC!!!
Now, about series plot issue… It solved, it seemed to take over 2 days to complete libraries scanning, but in the end, plots appeared…
Thanks for your suggestion about managing agents and naming files: file names were already set up, because I’ve already done this thing years ago; I’ve found very useful the advice about how manage agents, because I think it’s a bit complicated to understand the difference between TVDB and MovieDataBase…
Thank you again
