Hello,
I’ve been having a lot of issues recently with Plex’s built in EPG. I noticed that you can substitute the built in EPG for an XMLTV file. However, when I try to do so I get an error “Invalid or missing file.” I know that the Zap2XML and MC2XML programs that I use put out a usable XMLTV file as I can use it for other programs
Is there a guide to setting it up? Or am I just missing something really simple?
@DaveBinM You use XMLTV right, with IceTV?
From another thread it looks like you need a special path format:

can you try \\localhost\c$\Plex\dvb-t.xml
as the path in the DVR setup wizard?
I’m in the US, so no I don’t use IceTV. I was looking to replace the guide data with something more reliable, thus using something like Zap2XML to pull data from Zap2it to use as my primary source of info.
I’m on Windows Server 2016, so I don’t know if that path name would work properly, but I’ll look into finding a different place to put it, and see if that works.
I was looking around for more info on how to do this with Plex as well. I have some ideas once support for my card comes to Plex that will involve needing to use XMLTV.
@keithah Yeah, I use XMLTV from IceTV in Australia. On Windows, I believe you currently need to pop the file here \\localhost\c$\Plex\dvb-t.xml
. I don’t believe there’s any such issue on Mac or Linux though. I personally get mine from a remote URL directly, rather than downloading and storing a file locally.
I have a HDHRM Prime. The Plex EPG wasn’t working well for me. So I tried downloading XMLTV (which was no problem) and pointing Plex to the XML file. It finds it but it does not match the channels at correctly at all. It seems like its trying to match one the air channels (12.1; 8.4) but the XML has all the FIOS digital channels.
Frustrating I can’t get either to work reliably.
@dhy8386 Can you manually match the channels?
