Setting "date added" on new scan to file date

I am about to add a new folder of music albums to my Plex library.

I want the “date added” value to be pulled from the file or folder itself ( either date modified or date created will work, giving me the timestamp when the album became part of my library ) rather than it be the date I added them to Plex.

I can’t seem to find any setting to do this, but it may just be that I have missed it.

This only works if a folder is added during the initial library creation.
All subsequent additions are set to the current date.

Ah OK, that makes sense and I might actually even be able to use that to my advantage.

So if I completely empty my Plex music library by deleting the folder entries ( I have applied no manual editing or changes ) and start again with my two music folders, Plex should rescan both ?

Or do I just need to choose to delete the whole library ? I’m assuming that won’t impact the actual music files themselves ?

^^^^ this. But you will lose all manual adjustments you may have been making, after creating the library for the first time.
