Hello, I am setting up my first Plex Media Server (I have been testing it out on my laptop, and loving it, now about to go to a NAS solution).
Before I make the hefty investment, I was hoping someone experienced could let me know if this sounds like a good system. I do plan on using the NAS for running a virtual machine to do website back ups for clients, as well as personal and family cloud storage, though the Plex Media Server will be the primary usage.
Q-Nap TSV-871 i7 16Gb RAM
3 WD Red Pro 8TB drives (for storage) in RAID 5
Q-nap’s PCI Sata card
2 Samsung Evo 1TB SSD for read/write cache (mounted to the PCI card)
I am hoping this system would be more than adequate and will last me for quite sometime. Thoughts?
For Plex transcoding cache, would that use the same read/write cache drives for the other system cache, or would I need separate drives for that?
Any recommendations/advice is greatly appreciated!
