Could you add a feature that would allow the movie folder to group similar movies together in a sub folder. For example, I have a lot of James Bond movies. With each one having a totally different name there not easy to find. If they were all placed in one sub folder that could be labeled James Bond, you could find these movies by a single entry, select on it then see the list of movies that are in that folder. This is a very similar feature to seasons and episode used for TV Shows. Another benefit is it would reduces the number of movies you would have to manual scan through to find what your looking for. There area so many movies that have multiple episodes I really think this could be a big help.
I have each movie series that I own in its separate folder under my “Movies” folder. That is I have a “James Bond” folder for all the Bond movies and a “Terminator” folder for all my Terminator movies and so on.
I just do that in the file system and then set the “Movies” folder as the root folder of my “Movies” library. I do not see why Plex would need to do anything at all and I REALLY would not want Plex to ever move or in any way alter my file system.
The arranging of files is the job of he who maintains the library not the job of Plex.
If you just want the various movies grouped together in Plex then you can just use the “Sort title” to accomplish that. Or you can use collections. I use both my folder structure and the sort title in my Plex system. I don’t use collections as I find collections clumsy to use and maintain at best.
