Shield Pro 2019 - Database and Metadata Location and Sizing Concerns

Hey, I’m playing with moving my server onto my new Shield Pro. My content is hosted on my Synology NAS and my Shield is using both USB ports (one keyboard, one Flirc). My windows-based PMS metadata is about 15GB which is going to top out my shield internal storage I’d expect.

Can the metadata for the PMS be stored on the NAS or will I have to sacrifice a USB port for additional storage? (assuming the PMS metadata can be housed on USB attached storage?)

Thanks

You do not want to store the Plex data over a network connection. That’s just asking for the database to get corrupted. You can move the data to a USB drive, https://support.plex.tv/articles/moving-server-data-storage-location-on-nvidia-shield/.

You can attach a usb hub and attach more things. No need to sacrifice your keyboard or remote.

Had the exact same idea. Thanks for confirming. I don’t think the PMS on the shield is the way to go at the end of the day though. Playing around it just doesn’t have enough juice. Great client though!
