Should I split my library into sections?

I have a pretty vast music library (about 23,000 albums) & Plex seems to be struggling with it.

I often see this:

I have to click away, onto a test library that I have with only two albums in & then click back on my main library. Usually that fixes it. Today & getting the above error repeatedly & it seems to be needing to try & load the library several times before it succeeds.

Probably just my crappy internet or my old computer, but…

I’m thinking, if I split by library up into sections, like Soundtracks, Jazz, Library, Classical, etc. would that take the load off of Plex when I click on each library?

It’s never an issue with Plexamp on my phone.

Not really.
Your server logs might show a clue as for what’s actually going on/wrong.

What’s the best procedure for making those available?

(Thanks for merging the topics, by the way. I was trying to figure out how to find a mod to message.)

You should be able to upload the logs here in the forum.
Or start by taking a look for any ERROR labeled lines.

Hmm. I don’t see that icon, so maybe I don’t have permission to do that (in much the same way as I didn’t have permission to delete my previous thread, having re-created it here.)

Or perhaps I’m just being a bit thick.

That’s my bad, highlighting the wrong button.
It’s actually the one to the left of the highlighted one.

It’s in your screenshot at the center of the menu bar of the editor (between the code and bullet point tags).

Start with describing your server plaform, the hardware, the OS, the storage type and architecture of the volume that houses your plex data folder.

@tom80H Ah, cool. So that’s just the upload button, which I use for pictures, so I’ll assume I need to generate a log file to upload, which is what I’ll need to know.

But, in response to @OttoKerner’s suggestion…

So not to scare you but try: GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases

I have a large library myself, and occasionally, especially after adding/removing a fair amount of media I find the need to re-run that tool as it will optimize the database for better performance too.
