Show medias as unavailable where the file is missing in Plex

I want users from my server to see shows or movies in my server even if the file is not available on the server.

My use case is the following:
I sometimes have to delete tv shows from my server in order to save storage. But I’d like to have the shows and their metadata still available on my server and in the corresponding collections so that if other users are interested they can request the medias to be added on the server.
It also help me keep all my collections clean and keep everything visible directly in Plex. For example, I have a “Best 2024 movies” collection but not all of them are still available in the server.

So I was wondering if such thing was possible.

Not without cheating. Closest thing you could do is add dummy files as place holders. Plex isnt designed to store data that isnt related to the media in its database.
