Are you sure you’re not using a plugin like XBMC importer? Plex doesn’t have native nfo support built-in. The Plex scanner uses filenames, not nfo files, to match movies.
Along that same line, what you’re describing edrock is nfo support, such as the type of nfo files software such as Kodi can read.
