Hello, I have my Plex Media Server running on a Synology NAS and I am using a NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO to watch my files on my tv.

I have some concert movies and what I wanted to do is to use the chapters and name them so I can see what songs are in the movie and than I can skip to a certain chapter if I want to hear that song.

So first I used Lossless Cut to divide the mkv-file in the different chapters (some concerts already had chapters and Lossless Cut recognized them). Then I deleted all the songs I didn’t want to keep, and than I ‘combined’ all the songs I did want to keep in MKVToolNix to 1 mkv-file. In MKVToolNix I used the OUTPUT-tab to generate ONE chapter for each added file and used <FILE_NAME> as template.

After I did that I used VLC-player to check and it worked. All the chapters showed the name of the song. But when I than used my SHIELD on my tv, no names where shown, also in the PLEX web player the names are not shown.

I did a rescan of meta-data but this had no result.

And now for the strange thing: There is one concert which worked, so there it shows the song names in the PLEX web player and my Shield.

Anybody who can help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

I am doing the same with all my music video content.
The most important thing is to ensure that there is only one set of chapters in the file. MKV does support more than one set of chapters, and there is no official information about which of these is read by Plex.
You can use MKVtoolnix to look at the chapters and edit them.
