Several series - oh, let’s take Law & Order, have a ton of seasons. SVU is up to 23 starting now. It would be great to go into a series like L&O, SVU or even “Outer Limits” “Star Trek” etc. and choose “Shuffle” so that it would randomly pick an episode only inside that series. Shuffle works on the broader scale by just randomly picking out an episode from the entire TV library or movie library, but one episode at random inside a series folder would be desirable.
What client is this about?
On the clients I’ve just checked you already have an option to shuffle a show… it’s usually hidden in the ...
context menu.
Here’s the screenshot from Plex Web:
Maybe people wouldn’t have a hard time finding it if Plex didn’t hide it in a sub-menu.
Bring it back out of the sub-menu!
There’s even a suggestion for that – though it’s written specifically for the LG WebOS client, I consider the actual request goes beyond that client.
I’ll be honest, it feels like there is no point in voting when requests 8 years old with thousands of votes are unanswered and unimplemented.
I won’t defend that but Plex clearly states in the intro post about feature suggestions that they’re looking into those suggestions but there’s no automatism that suggestions with high vote counts are implemented; also Plex usually only comment/follow-up if the suggestions are ambiguous or they’re 100% set they’ll never consider them.
Let’s keep this thread about the suggestion at hand – though that is actually available.
Just saying - 2 people voting for it isn’t going to do anything. Sad truth around here these days.
I would love this feature and have posted about the same thing previously, albeit not in feature suggestions.
There was also a highly upvoted and gilded Reddit post a few months ago about this same exact thing, where the UX/UI is completely ripped to shreds. The end users want this. Plex just doesn’t care.
