I think smart doesnt work for some people. I just turn it off
Yeah, I guess. I found Plex Music and PlexAmp convenient when I wanted to hear my collection. I had drifted away from beaTunes as I started to enjoy PLEX. But, you’re right. It doesn’t work for me. Outside of a couple of switches, filters and other controls don’t exist, and there’s no explanation provided for how Sonic works…yet. I’ll keep hoping.
I wouldn’t, personally. We’ve fixed all reported issues with it, so if you’re still seeing problems we’d love to hear about them.
What sort of explanation are you looking for, and how does this relate to smart shuffle?
@elan well i might try it again. I was having trouble with it mostly playing popular songs and hardly any others.
I might try it again tho because over the last few days something weird has happened but cant for the life of me find where this setting is anymore.
We generally continue playing the same shuffled queue continuously (all music aprox 23000 songs) and we just add something into the play next if we want to hear it now. this has been working but we have restarted for various reasons.
But now when we restart we hear so many of the same songs from last time we started that it cant be a coincedence, after restarting about every thrid son im rememebering hearing it yesrerday.
WHen all artist or all tracks or all albums are shuffled it seems the same result, but does it shuffle the same order each time? or use some algorhyth to pich what order its in?
Also unrelated but cant seem to turn sweet fades off. Im using plexamp on Pi from android phone
Plexamp on Pi is unsupported at this point, I’m afraid.
But you love Pi so much…I know you do… and i build a Pi streamer specifically
The old version is unsupported, to be clear. There may be a new version in the future.
Maybe a dumb question but if plexamp pi goes away, is there a way to play to the pi device via plex web at full quality?..Or…What would be lost playing to plex web on the Pi?
Well I Just tried it again for a week. Lots ot popular tracks, and more repetition. Without smart shuffle I get a fairer mix of songs from my library ( i expect more plays from artists I have lots of) I used to rarely get a repetition till recently(without smart shuffle).
I will switch back to smart shuffle OFF and see if there is less repetitiion.
I know these rules for playlists - ie.dont repeat anything that played within last x days/weeks etc-
It seems like this is a very important part of what people want in shuffle.
It would be great to have these rules within shuffle also:
- don’t repeat sonngs played within last xx hours/days/weeks/months
2… play more/less popular/high rated songs
Then disable it and be happy ![]()
It de-prioritizes them. You can set a hidden preference RadioDaysSinceLastPlayed which defaults to 2. My own is set to 7.
You can also build “don’t repeat songs played within last xx hours/days/weeks/months” into any smart playlist you want.
