An option to use Plex & all your files kind of the way you might channel surfing with a TV, *except* through plex, so it is with all the files you like and there are no commercials.
Each time you press the forward/back button, you see the listing page for a randomly chosen file in your library. Even better, randomly chosen from whichever sections of your library you choose to be part of this option.
So you don't need to know in advance what you want to watch, you keep going forward until you find the right show or movie to watch (or whatever kinds of files you have).
Just like the 'shuffle' option we all can use when we listen to music. Except that you probably won't watch each file, you'll skip until you find the right one for the moment.
Yes but… Has to include the option to not include certain file types, file lengths, genres especially for video. Not everything would be suitable for this sort of shuffling only episodic stuff or music clips really. A lot of this functionality would probably be covered by the smart playlist and playlist suggestions, which probably be better as you would be able to sort each shuffling by genre for a more specific shuffling experience, ie only unwatched episodes of crime shows or only music clips that are under 5mins in length.
I would like to see this feature, but first I would like an extensive overhaul of playlist. Then I can make a playlist and put it on shuffle. With a mix of tv shows and movies if I wanted to. This feature would go great with a robust playlist support.
