Significant GPU usage during music playback

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3213

I’m noticing that the Plex app for windows is using significant GPU resources on my computer when I’m just listening to music. ~20% usage on a 2080 TI. This seems to go away when the player is minimized (though sometimes it will come back after a while), but still persists if the window is open in the background behind other windows.

This results in ~10W extra power draw on my computer just for having the window open, which seems very excessive. What is Plex doing with all those GPU resources? Is it literally just for rendering the playback window?

I see the same thing, as well as high CPU/GPU usage when any tasks are active and the status spinner/throbber is dancing.
