The premise is pretty simple. Firstly offer an option to display missing items from libraries, such as missing albums, tracks, and episodes. Secondly offer up a similar or related section for each entry- such that films watching a film will suggest other similar films films in your library (with the option to have it display items that are not in your library). Finally offer a quick integrated method to buy items that aren't in your library (with them automatically downloading to the respective library's folder, etc). This could prove a lucrative move for Plex, as surely the chosen store would be offering up a payment for the integration and subsequent increased userbase. Of course the important aspect here is that it's optional, and can be disabled, or even is opt-in to begin with. I do however think it could, for some of us, streamline things a bit. I often find myself listening to an artists only to find myself on wikipedia checking out similar artists, then on amazon or 7digital to grab a few tracks or an album. I'd love to see it all integrated.
I do appreciate that store integration for movies and tv shows would require a drm-free store, which, to my knowledge, doesn't exist. I'm hopeful though- if iTunes can convince the big record labels to sell drm-free music, surely we'll soon enough start to see drm-free movies that haven't been personally ripped from discs!
