I want to build a dedicated plex media server, but nothing too expensive. Going to use this as a DVR and to watch h.264 movies off of. I have a combination of Xbox, Android, iOS and smart TV’s that will pull from this.
How do I go about sizing a server? Mostly worried about CPU as that is my current bottleneck.

Basically, find the passmark score of a processor and divide by 2000. That will give you roughly how many decoding streams you can handle. Not a perfect science but at least helped me differentiate between different processors!
