I found this requested twice but neither time as a Feature Suggestion.
I have recordings from PlayOn that automatically name chapters “Advertisment” so when you play them using the PlayOn player, the ads will be skipped. I would like to play these in Plex and have the same feature to automatically skip chapters with a certain name like “Advertisement”. Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks for the tips.
I did delete my initial synology plex server and set up a new one on the i7 laptop. So I only have one plex server running, one HDHomerun DVR and so on.
I’ll keep experimenting to see if I can find some rhyme or reason. I just turned on detect chapters and create thumbnails to see if I can force plex to rescan the files.

Streaming services have started removing content and shelving it or licensing to ad supported streaming channels such as Tubi and FreeVee to save money on residuals. See here - Why are movies and TV shows disappearing from streaming services? | Television | The Guardian
So, I’ve started recording streams with PlayOn. As indicated in the other post, they mark ads as chapters. Please add a Skip Ad button during playback as you do with your DVR recordings.

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to configure Plex to skip chapters based on certain (configurable) chapter titles. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
It appears Plex already “sees” the chapter name when chapters are accessed for manual selection. How about adding some automation to chapter selection by allowing configuration of chapter skipping based on a search string match in a chapter name. Some recording programs name their chapters and indicate “Advertisement” chapters. This would be a generic way of auto-skipping chapters that is not tied to any program outside of Plex.
