Commercial Skipping on ad supported TV recordings

Recordings from Free Ad Supported TV sources have the commercials correctly identified and you can FF through them with several button clicks, each time one comes up.

I’ve seen the suggestions for a auto-commercial skip as a menu setting and a skip button on screen. Those would be best, but if nothing else could we get the bar showing advertisements and video moved above the actors list bar, so it is easier to access the ads and click through them?

I‘m not sure I understand what you’re suggesting.
If a recorded video has been processed and commercials have been detected, you should get on option to skip those (1 „Skip Ad“ button popping up, 1 click).

There’s currently no option to automatically skip ads… unless you configure Plex to remove the ads. There’s an existing feature suggestion asking for Plex to allow automatically skipping ads:

There’s also an existing suggestion asking for Plex to display a visual indicator for ads (or intro/credits) on the progress bar:

If that’s what you’re looking for, please comment/vote in those existing suggestions in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes (closing this thread as a duplicate).

I’m not sure if that part of your suggestion is aiming at the same. I’m not aware of any apps listing actors above the video and progress bar?!?

I just had to double-check… Plex will create markers when it’s detecting commercials – not chapters. So wherever you got those… the chapters haven’t been created by Plex.

Well, thanks for that. This stinks. Recordings coming from major streaming video services, but are free versions with added ads.

I’ll close this thread as a duplicate. As for your two suggestions, please comment/vote in the existing threads linked above.
