So I’m really enjoying the new skip intro feature and if the intro is in the correct time frame is works absolutely fantastically. (I’ve only watched one show with 24 episodes since this is available).
I’ve noticed a few things that should be implemented too:
Mainly also detecting the ending for the show. It should work just like for intros, just at the end of the episode.
Detecting intros farther into the episode. For some reason the intro with some anime is in the middle of the episode. Sometimes the into is at the end of the first episode, effectively replacing the first ending. So maybe give the option to scan the complete episode (maybe as a library option) so it’s not enabled by default to reduce recourse usage.
Those two additions would double the effectiveness of this feature, at least for Anime.
I hope that these additions can be considered in the future.
Mod-Edit: see mod response below; 1st bullet point is a duplicate suggestion
In addition to these ideas, some anime have a change in the intro halfway through a season. Due to this the second intro is never noticed and the skip function disappears for half of the season. Having an option/function that checks if there is a different intro if a bunch of episodes dont seem to have the expected intro might be a good idea.
Let’s stick with one suggestion per thread.
There’s already a similar suggestion to add “skip ending” (e.g. to directly jump to an end-tag / what’s next / … section).
Therefore let’s stick with the other suggestion of yours and avoid distracting votes from each other.
The bigger issue I’ve noticed is that sometimes I have a DVD copy of an anime, and when I rip the Blu-ray version, the intros aren’t detected with the new copies; they’re still the old versions. I haven’t yet figured out a way to force Plex to re-scan the intros and outros.
