Intro detection improvement sugestion // mod: multiple intros (e.g. studio vs. show intro)

on the whole intro detection works great for me with one edge case, an increasing number of shows have 2 “intros”. The initial one (usually right away) usually something about the network and or studio and then later (2-5 min) the show intro.

  1. Would it be possible to add multiple intro detection ?

As an example, Star Trek Strange New Worlds has two items that qualify as introductions.

The first is short, just a “Star Trek” logo followed by “A CBS Studios Production” and lasts 30s.

The second is the show intro proper, about 1m45s. This has the actor names and is what most people would qualify as the actual intro.

I understand the current (June 2022) implementation of the skip feature only works on the short intro, because this is the first it encounters.

Would it be possible to either develop something that can skip both or if that’s not possible, skip the longer one?

It would be great to have this feature as when we are binge-watching episodes, the one like Netflix has would be a better thing to have as we will only need to skip one intro instead of two here. Also, when I click on the Skip Intro button, it briefly shows again at the end of the intro section giving us an illusion to click it again. But then it disappears shortly afterwards. In this case, a straightforward solution will work. What if when a user clicks on the Skip Intro button, then it would take the user to the end of the intro part, but a flag will be set alongside this action that a user has clicked on the skip intro button, and that button should not be shown again for that episode. What do you think?

Just adding my voice to the thread, my suggestion is linked above as one of the duplicate threads, with a few different ideas on what to implement, but really, detecting multiple intros is the best solution, IMHO. And I know OP doesn’t say to limit it to 2, but just to be explicit about that, it shouldn’t be limited to 2 intros. Detect all identical segments in each episode above a certain length.
