I recently moved and as a concession let the wife have cable tv back. It’s fine enough and the tivo premiere we had a lifetime subscription for is being used again, but this bill is just ridiculous. I saw the ad for slingtv, and while not perfect, it may be workable. My main question is if the plex dvr is compatible, as the 50 hour $5 sling dvr is not going to cut it. When I was using plex, I never tried the dvr as I used windows mce to record everything, and plex just monitored those folders. thanks.
Slingtv stores the DVR on their servers so you cannot use Plex to play it back. You can use plex with an OTA antenna or your cable box. There are other options like Playstation VUE, hulu live tv and youtube tv. All of those have DVR’s and I don’t believe they are restricted to 50 hours. Some of them may have expiration dates instead.
