100 vs. 1,500 items to go through would sure make a difference already.
@hedkase : another thought, which may or may not be able to ease your pain.
if you are not short of storage space for the plex data folder, disable the following
Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks - ‘Remove old cache files every week’
With a puny NAS cpu, the time to scale down a small version of the movie poster may be perceived as ‘lag’ too. If you keep the scaled versions of the poster on disk (in a cache), this may feel quicker.
