Slow transcoding with nvidia 3080

Server Version#:Version 1.70.2.3845-31e96af6
OS : WIN11
RAM : 16GB DDR4 3200

hello, I have a plex server with a ryzen 7 3700x and an nvidia 3080, when only one user watches a movie in 4k hdr (60gb) the transcoding is very slow and the gpu is at 60% load

HW transcoding shows up fine in the server menu, graphics card and other components work fine, I feel like there is something wrong, a 3080 shouldn’t have any issues to transcode

On the devices trying to read the files you can receive the message “server not powerful enough” which surprises me, moreover in the playback parameter options you cannot choose a specific quality, only 2mb or original quality is available

Do you have any leads? THANKS

To clarify, you are seeing the (hw) in the dashboard when something plays?

But you’re still seeing 100% CPU usage?

Do these videos having a problem have any subtitles enabled?

The cpu is not necessarily solicited but the GPU yes at 60% for a single transcoding, no subtitle activated and the mention Transcode HW appears well

Upgrade to 64-bit Plex Media Server if you haven’t yet.

indeed I am in 32 bits, how to switch to 64 without uninstalling?

Shut the server down

Just install the 64 bit. It does everything automatically

You only have to uninstall if you go the other way. From 64 back to 32

Done but still the same problem

Make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers.

Yes I have the latest nvidia drivers, also in the quality menu are missing no 720p or 1080p, moreover when trancoding in 480p the language is English while French is selected and works in 4K hdr

(on iphone 12)

Did you try rebooting the computer after you did the 64 bit install?

Yes of course but no changes

Enable debug only not verbose

Reboot the server then play the same video

Stop the stream and wait a minute or two before gathering logs from the trouble shooting section

An employee is probably going to have to take a look and see what exactly is failing

Should I post the logs here? Thank you for your answers

You can post them here or wait and send them by direct message to a ninja or employee when they come by

In the meantime, I might try to experiment a little by trying some other files. Maybe try to transcode a 1080p SDR file and see if that seems to be working as expected or not

plex log transcodage nvidia.txt (328.9 KB)

Here are the logs, are they sufficient?

No news?
