Smart Playlist Like Functionality, and File Streaming.

I did a little looking around and some websites mention smart playlists. I use two smart playlists in Media, one being all music being 5 stars and one being all music that is 3 stars out of the slandered 5 star rating system. Is there any way I can do this or something similar natively in Plex, using third party software or another program to make a playlist folder of it and upload that to plex?

Also, I’m sure this has been answered before, when a file is streamed, can you change the bitrate of it in the app’s settings. As I have a lot of losless flac files, but if I can convert them to mp3 for streaming, it would be easier. Is this also possible with downloading a playlist with the subscription? Can I convert them all to 320 kb/s files?

Thank you.

  • go into your music library.
  • don’t click on any individual track with your mouse now!
  • change the viewmode to tracks (1.)
  • open the lefthand action bar (2.)
  • click on ‘New Filter’
  • click on ‘Rating’
  • check ‘3 stars’, ‘4 stars’ and ‘5 stars’
  • click on ‘Add to playlist’ (encircled)
  • name the playlist “Music - 3 stars” or similar

This method works only if the star rating has been applied to the individual tracks, not the artist nor the album.

Thanks for the quick help and the screenshots, really make a difference.
