A few updates ago my Smart Playlist was no longer accessible. Whenever I clicked on it there were no records even though I know there were items to watch. I suspected something changed after the update so I removed them and tried to recreate them. Now however, it no longer filters by unwatched. The current method I use is Adding a collection tag (“DC Super Heroes”) to each show then in TV Shows select Advanced Filter and select Match All of the following, Un-played Episodes is true and Show Collection is DC Super Heroes. I then save it as a Smart Playlist.
I just tried to reproduce this but it seems to be working ok for me.
Can you double-check all the filters are set as per your screenshot when editing the filters for the smart playlist?
Do you get the same result if you switch the display mode to “Episodes” when editing/creating that smart playlist (instead of “TV Shows”)? I have a suspicion that this currently filtering for shows with unwatched episodes instead of all unwatched episodes.
That actually makes it worse. If I change it to episodes it grabs them all and does not filter by Unplayed in the filter preview (as well as in the playlist).
I believe unplayed used to be called unwatched. Is it possible something happened in the database or even in the version of Plex Server I use that is causing the disconnect? I am using a Synology with latest version of Plex Server PlexMediaServer-1.23.2.4656
Look at the playlist. The ending of the URL will look like key=%2Fplaylists%2F241176&context=library%3Acontent.playlists~0~0. Find the number after the %2F, in my case it’s 241176.
Now view the info for any episode, then vide the XML. Look at the URL, It will have near the beginning /library/metadata/123456. Replace this with playlists/241176 using the number from above, leave the rest alone.
Got some info. “Unplayed episodes” is a yes or no for if the show has any episodes that are marked as unplayed. The result for this is the entire show. “Episode Unplayed” is for each episode. So using that is the correct one for what you want.
