I'm toying with the idea of either attempting a port of the mythbox xbmc plug-in to the new Plex plug-in architecture or using some other method to get the one thing that's missing from every XBMC variant I've used so far... a fully functioning MythTV interface. While I can hop into mythfrontend via an application from plex, I don't know that I could sell replacing our last windows box (the HTPC running MCE) to my wife without making it as easy to watch TV on the Mac as it is on the MCE box... and with its support for online video, plex is the application I want to stay in by default.
I started investingating the PMS plug-in framework and have looked at some code for a few plug-ins, but I have to admit, without some documentation, it's pretty slow going (not to mention that I'm not a Mac developer, though I hope to start changing that by using Xcode to build this plug-in, just to get used to the IDE).
I was hoping some kind soul could point me to some sample code or even framework source that could be useful for investigating some of the finer points of what's possible from a UI perspective in the plug-in architecture.
Of most interest to me is confirming functionality exists that would allow me to generate a guide page as most PVR software out there allows users to navigate via a tabular grid and interact with the schedule on a show by show basis. I don't know that I've seen any plug-ins out there doing that type of thing, but I may be looking in the wrong place.
Thanks in advance for any pointers. I've been quite impressed with Plex. Enough to get off my butt and try to contribute to the community. Thanks for some great software folks. Looking forward to more from the plex team!
