I have over 50 podcasts that I can export from my current player, but there is no way to import them?
Plex, don’t you think that is a major drawback?

According the Verge article, they plan to add OPML import in a future release.
Not yet. OPML import support is coming soon.
Makes no sense that would not be there day one. Wouldn’t you want people to use it to its full extent on release day? To replace their current player with yours? The simplest way would to import.
Again makes no sense.
Oh well.

We absolutely do want people to use it as much as they can, but keep in mind this is being released as a beta – which means its unfinished. I totally agree that the simplest way to move users over is to have a way to import, and the team is working on that. It just wasn’t ready for day one of the beta. More features and refinements will come as the beta progresses.
The point was/is it should have been included day one of the beta. But as was said: oh well.

Yup, I read that, thanks.
Maybe for everyone complaining that things are not the way they want them to be, maybe they should contribute to code and have it bug free from day one!!

The point being, if you are introducing a new product you want people to use it. When they sat down in the develop room someone at some point decided that importing would not be needed on release day. That was a bad decision. I am not going to manually add over 30 feeds. I did a few manually to checkout the feature but will not use on a regular basis until I can quickly import all my feeds. Seems like a pretty basic thing that should have made the cut for release.

Oh? When did Plex become open source (again)? Oh, wait, I guess parts of it are…

Agreed.

Only 30 eh? ;^)
