Software AV1 decoding... coming soon to Android 12+

Kinda a follow up on this request for an AV1 software decoder in the Plex app, it looks like soon Android will have its own system-level AV1 decoder for video playback.

It would be good if Plex could utilize this in the future. Right now I can play back AV1 fine on my phone from my Jellyfin server when I use Findroid and its experimental mpv player engine, but not with the Plex app.

Agreed. I’ve held off getting a av1 encoder for my server due to plex not supporting av1 encode yet, as that can greatly increase quality by up to 50% of the same small bitrate. And my phone being a galaxy s21, would allow me 20Mbit worth of bitrate for only 10Mbit mobile data speeds i have there.
