SOLUTION: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

My objection in reading this thread is how you chastised a community member. So much for Constructive criticism is welcome, but criticize ideas, not people. The tone of your responses are demeaning and not helpful IMHO. While this is a fantastic product, that kind of support is not helpful or kind.

I am sorry that you found my action to be wrong. posting in other threads with actual active ongoing investigations advising to downgrade was inappropriate and undermined the investigations. My action was to delete those posts and ask the user not to do it again.

All the posts for this error that arose after windows update KB4338819 have now been moved to a new forum topic here

Hmm this is weird, I installed the KB4345421 update as you suggested. Rebooted my computer and tried playing a video and still same issue.

Can you open this thread and add your post there - I moved the posts to new topic - but there appears to be an issue where it does not show up

I can confirm installing the latest Windows 10 updates has resolved the issue for me.

Why was my reply moved? I have Windows 8.1 and have been getting this error for around two weeks, are you saying I need to buy Windows 10 to use Plex?

Im on the latest version 1.13.4.5271 and im still getting this error. Plex Media Server Logs_2018-07-27_19-09-54.zip (7.2 MB)
My log fie attached. Please advise…thanks

Installing the latest Windows updates so far has solved my problem.

I am on Version 1.13.4.5271 in Debian 9.1 running Open Media Vault and running PMS in docker using plexinc/pms-docker and have the transcoder error on some files on iOS devices but not on my Mac running Mojave.

Also running 1.13.4.5271 and getting this error for the last week. Windows updater says I am up to date (win 10).

Love to have a fix for this please ?

Was having same issues for days, tried on new/older version of Plex, etc. Ultimately Windows updates fixed it for me, running fine on 1.13.4.5271. The updates that were installed by Windows update were Intel - net (19.51.12.3) and NVIDIA (23.21.13.9125)

I’m getting this error as well, just started a week ago or so, never had it before, and I did recently update Plex. Only happening with certain files, and only happening with those files when serving to my PS3. Prior to this never had any issues with those same files being served there. Usually I can get 1-2 minutes into the program before the error happens.

Same issue since Monday, I am not sure if it was before or after the recent update. Tried all the solutions with no luck.

Same issue as well. Windows 10 is up to date and so is Plex just started today strangely.

I’ve had the ā€œConversion Failed. the transcoder exited due to an errorā€, going on about 2-3 weeks now so not sure if it’s latest update. attaching logs.

****update…

doing windows most recent update to windows 10 worked for me i think.

It wasn’t removed. They were all moved to a different thread. See below.

If you are having issues on Windows 7, 8, or 10 DO NOT post in this thread. Please post in the thread linked above. Include logs in your post. This thread is not monitored as well as the other one which a Plex Team Member split from this one.

I have had the same issues with the transcoder failing, too for several weeks and the most recent updates from the last several weeks on both windows 7 and windows 10 pro. The last update, Version 1.13.4.5271, seems to be working on both machines. Finally.

I been having this issue for many months now and through several updates. things seem less stable now with it hanging and crashing and sometimes not being able to restart the stream unless I reboot the server. I have had it happen on my PC, my TV, and android pad. I was hoping a solution would come in an auto update but seeing that is not the case call me your guinea pig and I can get logs etc for you .
