I too have had this error for the past week or so. I have both of the above mentioned windows updates installed as well as the latest Plex server and the problem is NOT fixed. I still get “there was a transcoder error”.

Have also been experiencing this error, for at least 1.5 months now. Tried everything suggested in this topic but am still the error.

The Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error is a generic general issue and may arise due to many reasons. The specific errors that seem to come on when the windows bad update was applied were these logged errors

ERROR - [Transcoder] av_interleaved_write_frame(): Unknown error

ERROR - [Transcoder] [dash @ 02b0d8c0] Unable to open http://127.0.0.1:32400/video/:/transcode/session/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/manifest for writing

If you continue to have issues even with applying the windows update to Build 17134.167) , then as stated before, please provide diagnosticss

I just made a thread on this. In my case, it seems like some sort of memory leak. The transcoder seems to increase its usage to around 3.7gb before completely crashing. The strange part is that every time it crashes when the transcoder gets to around 3.7gb, and that I can resume playback immediately after it crashes.

There is already a topic on memory issue. I am waiting for logs and a file that actually brings the problem on so it can be reproduced and investigated.
