Some OTA channels need Audio Stream changed from default language to play

Has anyone else had trouble playing certain OTA TV channels with Plex Web unless you change the AUDIO STREAM?

I originally noticed the issue on Windows PMS (public & betas) with an old, unsupported Hauppauge WinTV single tuner card, so I hesitated reporting the problem. This card never had a problem with Windows 7 WMC on any OTH channels.

Now I have Linux PMS installed with a new, supported Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD and the problem is still there–it even happens on another channel. So, I thought it was time to figure this out.

The problem happens in Plex Web Player in latest Firefox, Chrome, Chromium on Windows or Linux. I don’t think the iOS or Android players have this problem. I have only noticed the issue on our local OTA TV channels 2.1 and 7.1. The channel won’t play unless we change the audio stream from English (AC3 5,1) to Espanol (AC3 Stereo). The DVR records the channel okay though.

The only clue I have is this problem seems to happen on channels when the (default) English audio stream isn’t the first stream in the pull-down on the TV player settings. For example, if the second audio stream is our only default English stream, the channel won’t play until we switch it to the first stream in the list. If that first stream is actually in another language, we have to watch it in that language. Otherwise, it will sit and spin or sometimes give channel not available or off the air msg or something like that.

Is this a bug in the Plex Web Player?

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: 4.12.3

This is still a problem on Web Player. If the first audio stream isn’t the default (e.g. English), channel playback fails until you switch it to the first audio stream. (Usually Espanol in our case). If that audio stream is actually in Spanish…well, you better know Spanish!

Kindly, please look into a solution for this audio stream bug.

Thanks!!!

Recently, I updated to Windows PMP 1.6.2.994 and it seems to be fixed. However, it’s still a problem on Web Player 4.22.1.
