Some thoughts on the 'bogus' single-layer ('profile 5') Dolby Vision made by third party tools

gotcha thanks for the additional links, I misunderstood when I was reading, I thought they were doing the

  • Single Track Single Layer : BL + RPU (this is the case of DVDFab) <<< this is lossy

vs

  • Single Track Double Layer : BL + EL + RPU (my attempt) <<< this is lossless, but appears to be non-standard

I’ve read the thread off and on throughout the whole DV debacle, but not the entire huge thread, though I did read the posts from your first link earlier today to the end.

Hi guys!

Thank you for the updates and the information including the links. In this case special thanks @ninja1x1

Find it very good that yusesope and others has stayed with it and has now created a free alternative to DVDFab. I will look at this in full shortly. Thanks again and keep me up to date

Currently, unfortunately I do not have enough time to investigate this issue in detail. Maybe at the next weekend.

However in short:
There is a new version DVDFab and I made a new SLDV version of the movie The Matrix and I personally saw no differences between DLDV and SLDV anylonger. I will have to investigate this with my example of the movie Joker

Before I invest half my existence in this… is it now possible to get:
DV* + Hi res audio
out of a Shield w/ Plex

If the answer is yes, time to get learnin’. Thanks in advance.

(* “DV lite” or modified DV in the DL->SL conversion or whatever)

Yes it is. DTS-HD-MA is possible and works for me… but no Dolby TrueHD/Atmos
