New to Plex. So far everything has played great but last night I was not able to watch a movie. I kept getting “Something Went Wrong. Please Try Again Later”. The .mkv file is intact and good (I was able to watch the entire movie from my computer last night) but not sure why Plex wouldn’t play it? Tried it on Chromecast and Android Phone. Any ideas?
I just installed Plex so it should be the most up to date version.

So far I have:
1)Deleted that copy of the movie, re-added it. “Something went wrong…”
2)Renamed the movie “Something went wrong…”
3)Deleted the movie within plex (it said it would delete the actual movie on my server but it didn’t so I manually deleted it. I then added another version of this movie (different file size) and now it doesn’t even show up in my library even when doing a search for the actual name. I have performed a scan within Plex but it still doesn’t see it.
I am all out of ideas. Any help on this would be great.

I replaced the chromcast with another one and so far the issue has not come back. SOOOO WEIRD! What are you watching it on? All of the movies that I couldn’t watch were on that chromecast. The movie worked fine on my phone and if I sign into plex using a computer. For me, I think it was that one chromecast. Good luck! 
I have an Nvidia Shield Pro with an external HDD attached which is a network drive. I transfer files from my laptop to the HDD wirelessly. The media files are viewable from the HDD on the Shield when using VLC Player but Plex is not seeing it. When I login to the plex webpage, it cannot see them there either.
Where is your server? Plex is a Server-Client architecture, where you run a client (Nvidia Shield, Chromecast, iPhone, etc) to receive a media file from a server (Linux box, Windows box, Mac box, Docker, Nas, etc).
If you don’t plan to use a server, I’d suggest installing Kodi on the Shield instead of Plex to view local files on an external HDD.
