Sonos ARC - Plex - select track - error 'Unable to connect to Plex'

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#:Sonos ARC
When Plex is selected on the Sonos app, the Plex menu is displayed. I can select ARTIST and Sonos shows all the Artist’s albums. When an ALBUM is selected, Sonos shows all the tracks on the album. When I select a track to play, Sonos shows it is trying to access the file and then displays the error “Unable to Play {Selected Track} – unable to connect to Plex”.

Plex is on same LAN, running on Synology NAS and Plex has external access enabled.
Any ideas?
Thanks

This tends to be a loopback (or hairpinning) issue, my old ISP provided router (a BT Homehub 5) exhibited exactly this issue. Switched to a 3rd party router and the problem went away, in your case it may be a setting on your router you can change.

Do a search for Sonos loopback in the forum. For example Sonos playback issue: 'unable to play "title" unable to connect to plex.'

Thanks for the response. I did change to ORBI RBR850 and NAT loopback is working. I will let the forum know if I find the solution.
Thanks again

I am using RBR850 and two satellites and love Orbi.

I recently added a Sonos ARC soundbar and attempted to use the Sonos PLEX app to access my PLEX media server on my LAN for music. The Sonos PLEX app could see my PLEX server, show my artists, tracks, playlists, etc. When an item is select to play, the Sonos PLEX app would return an error message “Unable to play {track name}, unable to connect to PLEX”

The solution was:
• Make sure that NAT loopback on the Orbi is turned on (UPNP)
• Turn off Orbi Armor – this was blocking the attempt of the Orbi PLEX app to connect to the Sonos servers when using the PLEX app.

I love my Orbi and would like to use the Armor security; however, I cannot identify exactly what was blocked by Armor for the Sonos/PLEX app, so I cannot ‘whitelist’ the item to work with Armor. I have asked Sonos if they have any details on how to ‘whitelist’ the Sonos/PLEX app. If I discover this, I will update this post.
