Sony A9G/F DTS/Atmos Pass Through + Direct Play

All, looking for some advice as I try to consolidate devices in my media center. Currently have a nVidia Shield TV as my Plex client which can Direct Play pretty much any format to display on my Samsung TV and Denon AVR. I’m looking to replace it with a Sony A9G/F and install Plex as a client on the TV. Does anyone know if the TV can pass through via ARC DTS and Atmos to my Denon and does the Sony Android client have the same capability to Direct Play as the nVidia Shield?

Thank you all

those tv support e-arc according to @ Sony A9F OLED vs Sony A9G OLED Side-by-Side TV Comparison - RTINGS.com however you do not state your denon model or whether or not it supports e-arc too.

Both the tv, hdmi cable, and receiver must support E-ARC.

All that said, there have been no confirmed tv plex clients that support truehd/atmos over e-arc.

Until proven otherwise, I suspect that E-ARC will only work at the HDMI passthrough level (ie bluray/console), I expect we will not see any tv’s that can pass truehd/atmos over e-arc via plex or other app.

So, if you can get it to work, you might well be the first.

Just to add to what @TeknoJunky asked what model is your Denon?
Many HDMI 2.0 compliant 2017/2018 models had firmware upgrades for e-arc.
Newer ones should already support e-arc.

It’s a Denon X4300H, but more than happy to upgrade, but sounds like it might not be possible to pass DTS HD and Atmos even on the latest models.

I would be spending some time reading about eARC on AVS forums
