I agree. There should be some news on folder view, and their complete silence on it is… sucky. Last we heard from a dev (that I know of) they said that folder view sat in priority just behind sort and filters. Since those are now in the app we can only hope that folder view is next.
The current app isn’t built on UWP and it isn’t as simple as “clicking a button” to port old Xbox Apps to the new system.
The UWP Plex app currently available for Windows 10 devices isn’t designed (yet) for 10ft interfaces, so I wouldn’t expect them to push their UWP app to the xbox any time soon.
Whether they plan to eventually make the UWP run on the xbox one is anybody’s guess. I suppose we’ll have to wait for word from them on this as well.
I know this threads pretty old now but I have a very similar setup to @cayars it appears and would really enjoy the ability to sort by folder especially for my computer training’s library. I have quite a bit of material from sources like CBT Nuggets and Lynda.com in there and since the videos for each training are labeled in numerical order by default (example: 01 Welcome to the Tools, 02 Introduction to AD, 03 Installing AD, etc.) I have to weed through 50 different videos starting in “01” when starting a new training course and then have to do the same thing when I move onto the second, third, and so-on videos in the series, which ends up taking quite a bit of time. In order to better accommodate I recently removed the Library completely and started creating individual library’s for each training to keep organized which was a bit of a pain to say the least.
Very interested in this feature, please let us know if any progress has been made on implementing it and if there’s anything the community can do to help get it moving in the right direction!
Thanks from all of us for a great overall product though Plex team! It’s much appreciated and I’m bummed I hesitated on purchasing the lifetime Plex Pass membership a few years back when it was $75

XB1 does not yet support universal apps - it’s still running an XB1 specific client.

I keep my TV show library sorted in this way:
\TV\Comedy\Show\Season\Episodes.mov
\TV\Action\Show\Season\Episodes.move
.etc.
The filenames are mostly all gibberish with dates and resolutions, etc but they are all organized by genre, show, season and then numerically by the first characters as 01…, 02…, 03…, etc.
Until folder view is implemented my entire TV Show collection is useless on Plex. Guess I’ll stick with Stream To Me for now.

Folder view/ sort by Folder is something that is used on any platform by a lot of people.
We all have songs sorted in folders, we all have videos/tutorials in folders.
Folders are very useful.
So please consider implementing it for Xbox One and any other client as a major functionality.
